7 Card Stud Poker - The Poker Players Guide

One of the most favorite poker games played offline and in homes across the globe is 7 Card Stud Poker, its a very popular card game that is played for fun and real money all over the world

The beauty of 7 Card Stud poker is that it is so easy to learn and it only takes a few minutes to grasp the basics of the game, then as you play it more and more you become more experienced and as such making a decision regarding the games action and play comes naturally.

The basics of the game are simple and each player gets dealt two face down cards, which only they can see along with a face up card that every other player can see, as the game progresses the = Dealer issues players each in turn another three face up cards and one more face down card and it is the player who has the best five card poker hand at the end of the game who wins the pot.

7 Card Stud Poker - The Rules

An Ante must be placed at the start of every hand by all players, this is usually a small amount that sets the game in motion whilst at the same time allows the pot to start to grow.

Once everyone has placed this Ante the Dealer then gives every player in turn their two face down cards and a face up card, the term given to the face down cards is the "Pocket" and the face up card is called the "Door"

Next is the first betting round called the "Bring In" and it is the person who is showing the lowest Door card who must post this initial compulsory bet. This bet is usually half the smaller stake amount, and this player may also increase this bet amount to the full stake amount.

Should two different players both be holding the same lowest door card then the suit rankings will be used to decide the lowest hand and these going in order with the strongest being Spades then Hearts then Diamonds and the lowest being Clubs.

To remain in the game every player must call or raise or if they prefer fold. The betting carries on with the next player to bet being the player sat to the left of the Bring In player.

As the game moves to the final stage called the Showdown it is the player with the best ranked 5 card poker hand who will win the complete pot.
