Playing Poker - Basic Rules
The aim of all poker games is simply to get to the final round and then have the best poker hand as per the above hand rankings.
The only exception to this aim is in the game of Omaha Hi Low, where the pot is split between the players with both the highest AND the lowest hand.
In Texas Hold'em which is the most popular online and offline poker variant all players get to share the Community Cards of which there is ultimately five of them.
Players are also dealt two cards unique to them, any combination of Community Cards and the Players two cards can be used to make that particular player final poker hand.
At the showdown, which is the final round the best five card poker hand takes the pot. For a more detailed explanation of each poker variants individual rules please select a game from the side menu.
